Chapel Offerings for November Go to LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs
Don’t forget about the puppies!!! Yes, this is my desperate way of asking you to continue to show your children good stewardship by giving regular chapel offerings to CTK. The chapel offering dipped a little this month. CTK students have given a total of $876. This is great news. I also know that we had a Coin War which looks like it did fairly well too. We have one more month of offerings before we write a check to the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs.
Fall Canned & Dry Goods Drive to Support St. Paul's Care & Share
The Student Council would like to announce the start of their annual Fall Canned Goods & Dry Goods Drive. The drive will directly impact the St. Paul Care and Share Food Pantry. Students should bring in their canned goods to their classroom. Once the Book Fair is over, the drive will move to the hallways where the Coin War took place. This will run until Thanksgiving Break.
Upcoming Fundraiser: Magazine Subscription Sales
Similar to books, CTK will be holding a magazine sale. This will be taking place from Nov. 13th through Nov. 27th. Students are encouraged to sell magazine subscriptions to friends, family, and perhaps, even parent colleagues. Any monies raised during this fundraiser will be credited to your family balance at CTK. Just doing the online portion may produce results for your child. It took about fifteen minutes last year and the Eli Kaiser sold to five more people than what he would have just selling face to face. Packets will be coming home.
Honor Roll Breakfast Monday, Movember 13
Awesome Job in the First Quarter CTK!!! I have reached out to Mrs. Julie Mammel. She has told me to relax because the Honor Roll Breakfast will be taking place on Monday, November 13th at 7:30 AM. The Honor Roll Breakfast is a way to recognize the students in Grades 5-8 who have earned their way onto the Honor Roll or Principal’s List. Sorry, siblings will have to wait because this is for parents and Honor Roll students only. The food is always great and the jokes are always…well, let’s just say I am consistent with my humor.
Student Council Decree: Camo Day November 15
Ollie Ollie Oxen Free!!! Come out, come out, wherever you are! Student Council has assigned for November 15th to be Camo Day at CTK. Please have your student dress up in appropriate camo and celebrate school spirit at CTK. Thank you to the Student Council for this fun way to be part of CTK.
Help Immanuel's Mary Martha Guild Support CTK
If I can dress us in a pretty princess unicorn costume, then you need to step up in a different way. Mrs. Mammel has a different request for the parents of Christ the King Lutheran School. The Mary Martha Guild of Immanuel Lutheran School will be hosting a Cookie Walk with all profits going to the Sebewaing Campus heating system. The Ladies of the Guild are requesting CTK families to make a couple dozen cookies (Ed. Note - or 14 dozen is OK too). These ladies do so many things in the background for CTK. This is another event that they are raising funds for OUR school. It is my hope that you are able to bake cookies. If you have no baking talent, then again wear your stretchy pants and purchase the cookies that have 50 calories in them. Mr. Dale Truemner has already told me that he will be making at least 6 dozen with his favorite nephew, Cody, this Saturday. Cookies should be brought to school on Friday, Nov. 17th, or to Sebewaing Township Hall by 11 AM on Sat., Nov. 18th. The Cookie Walk is from noon to 4 PM. I must say that if cookies are walking, either Tinkerbell is in the area or the cookies need to be baked longer. Don’t groan - you haven’t read the punchline to the joke yet!
Immanuel's TIMEOUT Group Chili Cookoff & Soup Lunch
Please take a look at the flyer attached to the end of the newsletter. The TIMEOUT Group from Immanuel Lutheran will be hosting its 2nd Annual Chili Cookoff and Soup Lunch. This will be taking place from noon to 5 PM (or until they sell out). This will be happening in the Great Room at Immanuel. A free-will donation will be taken with 100% of the profits going to the CTK Heating System. Read the flyer for new other exciting activities for this year.
Parents of a Basketballer…I wanted to let you know that Mrs. Gremel has scheduled sports pictures for Thursday, November 30th. These will take place right after school. Please make sure that they bring their uniform and shoes for pictures. Yes, please check their bags so no phone calls are needed…lol.
The basketball teams have two different games this week. Both games are away this week. The first game of the season is at Frankenmuth on Tuesday. The girls play first starting at 4:30 PM. The boys are roughly an hour later. The second game will be on Friday. Since this is a Friday game, the games start at 6 PM. Please come out and cheer on your Knights and don’t forget to wear your navy blue and grey!
From Bay Shore Camp
I just received a postcard from our friends at Bay Shore Camp. They will again be offering a Living Nativity on Saturday, December 2nd from 5 - 7:30 PM. This family event is FREE to the public. “Come and celebrate the One True King; the REAL reason for the season; Jesus Christ and his birth!” Hope to see you there.
From Valley Lutheran
7 th and 8th Grade Parents - VLHS is calling all current 7th and 8th Grade students to VLHS for its annual Fall Information Night on Tuesday, Nov. 28th at 7 PM. The event is a great way to receive a guided tour of Valley, meet fellow students, teachers, and to hear about all the great happenings that you could be part of at Valley Lu. No RSVP are needed - simply come and enjoy a fun, relaxed evening. Valley Lu is located at 3560 McCarty Road. Any questions can be emailed to Mrs. Sondra Yantz, student recruiter, at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the school office at 989-790-1676.
What is important about 12/3 @ 3 PM? This is when Valley Lutheran will be holding a cottage meeting for all parents in Grades 5-8. This will be a meeting where you are able to hear about the Valley Lutheran High School experience and see if this might be something you would like your child to experience. This will be happening in the cafeteria at CTK, Sebewaing. Please think about taking some time and listening to Mrs. Sondra Yantz and her contingent from Valley Lu.
Support CTK with Your Holiday Shopping
I would like to remind you that now is a great time to begin stocking up on SCRIP cards for Christmas and other famous festivities, like the Buy Tressa Roemer a New Car Holiday. This is another way that you are able to earn money to reduce the student fees on your account. If you do order Amazon, please register for the Amazon Smile program. This will give a percentage back to our 501C3 that supports OUR school, the Knights for a Brighter Tomorrow. While you are making your everyday and holiday purchases and throughout the year, simply enter amazon at this link: https://smile.amazon.com/.
